In 1968 Dr Goh Keng Swee, wo was then the Minister for Finance came up with the idea to have a Bird Park. He wanted the people of Singapore to have a place to rest and admire and appreciate nature. With this goal he built the Jurong Bird Park which is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
It is currently the world’s largest bird park in terms of number of birds and second largest in terms of land area.

The Lory Loft which is about 3,000 square meters large and about 9 storey’s high. It’s considered to be the world ’s largest walk-in flight aviary for Lories and lorikeets.
