Making a simple mens shirts doesn’t need to have a proper schooling to learn. What you just needed is a machine, scissor, threads, garments, pins, pattern outline paper, and a tailors’ chalk for marking. Remember that making custom made shirts is all about the right fit. So be cautious in getting the measurements from your subject. Start practicing from a piece of scrap cloth. Make a curve and straight line and run the sewing machine through it. Keep practicing until you make it perfect.

Once you are done practicing, start getting a measurement from the subject. Measure the nape of the neck to the end of the waist, just above the tailbone, around the bust and waist, length of the arms and the shoulder width. Jot down everything in a sheet of paper especially if you make two or more custom made shirts.

Now after all the measuring done, let the customer choose a garment or you may choose by yourself. You need to consider the type of shirt you will be making so that the type of cloth will compliment on the type of wear to be used.

Then after, get a piece of pattern paper to outline your chosen fabric. You can buy the outline paper at any local tailor shop near you. Trace the outline on your fabric using the tailor’s chalk. Then cut the traced fabric using one direction to avoid mishaps.

Run the cloth in the sewing machine with a thread toned similar to the cloth. Just allow the cloth to run smoothly and assist it with you hands. After which, sew all the buttons according to the outline. Run the cloth as well on the machine to create buttonholes. But if in case you do not have a buttonholers machine, use scissors instead. Then carefully sew the edges of the holes to secure it from ripping off.

Now you’re done. You already made a custom made shirt and you may try to fit it on the subject to see if the pattern fit and framed well on him.
