Schengen Visa is a company that carries insurance for a lot of European countries, however they also extend coverage to visitors.  The specifics that they have on their policy are required by the consulates of those countries.  If you are a non U.S. citizen, then you must get the Schengen visa from the consulate of your main destination. The one thing that is required of you before you will get the Schengen visa issued to you is that you must show your travel insurance to the consulate of your destination and get approval.  They just would simply like to validate what you have and if it is enough without going through much trouble for you or their country.  You really want to find out what travel health insurance you have before leaving.  Do you want senior citizen travel insurance or the cheapest annual travel insurance?

There are three countries specifically that certainly would like to know what you have. Those countries are France, Germany and Greece.  The insurance company you are with must have an office in Europe, so make sure you ask when you are looking to travel insurance.  They also wish to make sure if you have medical evacuation which covers a minimum of $37,000.  Your insurance must also be valid for coverage in all the Schengen states.  These countries include: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

It would be exciting to travel Europe and there would also be a lot of options for you with regards to travel insurance.  Each country is going to have different requirements, and when looking for a travel insurance policy for your destination, it can be confusing at first because there are many different types of coverages and policies offered.  They are all different. No two policies are made equal, say for example in medical evacuation policies, one policy could differ from $500 to $1,000 or maybe more.
